WHAT IF this is the best I can do…
WHAT IF no one sees the value in what I offer…
WHAT IF I’m not good enough…
Every once in a while we all face that nasty little bugger, the WHAT IF Gremlin. He’s a mean, smelly, pesky beast that sneaks up on us right about the time we are embarking on a new adventure. Perhaps we are starting a new business or applying for the promotion or changing careers. He hits us in our most vulnerable spot…our self worth.
Sure, we smile to all our friends and tell them it’s a great opportunity, that we’re nervous, but it’s an exciting time and we are really looking forward to the challenge. Inside, we are scared, frightened and in a room full of people- completely alone. Do we show our vulnerability to those close to us? Do we grin and bear it? Do we drown our fears in a pan of hot fudge brownies topped with cookies and cream ice cream, an entire can of whipped cream and sprinkles on top!
Maybe. Nothing wrong with a little self pity— just remember you are going to seriously regret that chocolate indulgence at the gym tomorrow. Or maybe, we look in the mirror and say,
What if I can do even better…
What if the value I offer is beyond my comprehension…
What if I am great…
Or maybe we write a blog about the whole experience to get it out of our system.
Whatever you do, send that WHAT IF Gremlin on his way. You have better, more important things to do…but go ahead and enjoy a brownie… with sprinkles.
